SUMMER HERNANDEZ, Hazardous Waste Specialist III/ Emergence Response - Orange County EH Hello everyone I'm Summer Hernandez and I work at the Orange County Health Care Agency, Environmental Health Division, Hazardous Materials Section as a Hazardous Materials Specialist III. I have been with Orange County for three years and previously worked as a Project Manager in Environmental Consulting for 15 years. I currently inspect facilities under the following programs Hazardous Materials, Hazardous Waste, Tiered Permitting, UST, APSA, Waste Tires, Body Art, Medical Waste, and CalARP. My district is in Irvine, California and maintains a wide variety of industries from biotechnology, aerospace, and manufacturing to restaurants and tattoo shops. For the last year I have been in training to be on Orange County Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Team. I most recently passed the CSTI Hazardous Materials Technician Certification course. I have participated on several internal subcommittees to research CUPA related topics; such as Hazardous Waste Tank Assessments and Nicotine regulated wastes, and created powerpoint presentations of our work, which we used for training purposes with our fellow inspectors. I recently participated on the Battery working group for the HazMat TAG to develop guidance for how to report/disclose in CERS for the various types of batteries.
