Project Background

The Inspection Checklist Project developed from a concept to create a model underground storage tank inspection checklist as a collaborative effort in the Northern CUPA Region.

Statewide Expansion

The CUPA Forum Board expanded the scope to provide a standardized statewide violation library and model standardized inspection checklists for each CUPA program.

Updated May 15, 2026: For the 2026 update, the only changes to the Hazardous Waste, RCRA Large Quantity Generator, Tiered Permitting, and Household Hazardous Waste inspection checklists were to add the value XXS to the RCRA Violation Type column. This addition was not deemed substantive and did not result in expiring and new versions of these violations. If your data management system does not include the data from this column, then there is no need to update your checklists for these programs. There were no changes to the Hazardous Materials Business Plan or California Accidental Release Prevention checklists, so there is no need to update those checklists.
