Environmental Justice is an important issue that has been a concern of the CFB and its members for decades. Major incidents that drove new regulations in the early 1980s also generated local concerns about the disproportionate impact of hazardous materials on neighborhoods of color.
About Environmental Justice
Recent statewide Environmental Justice efforts in Fresno and Los Angeles County have focused both State and local regulatory programs on specific areas of concern.
These efforts address a broad array of issues such as pesticide use, permitted facilities, solid waste, hazardous waste, zoning, and air quality. The CFB supports efforts to coordinate State and local Environmental Justice projects and encourages its membership to reach out and proactively support local Environmental Justice entities.
